Ethanol has become an important component of our nation's transportation industry. It lessens our dependence on imported petroleum from unstable regions of the world, creates and keeps good jobs in the United States and burns cleaner than gasoline. This is only the beginning of the story. The corn and sugarcane ethanol industry and more particularly E85 are paving the way for a transition to cellulosic ethanol. Multiple cellulosic plants are already under construction.
